The role of the third-party auditor is crucial in verifying that Certifur Canada criteria are met on the farm and identifying any gaps. Evidence that Certifur requirements are met include:

• Observation of the animals and pens
• Walkabout on the farm
• Review of written procedures
• Review of farm records
• Interviews with the farm manager and employees

Certifur Canada audits are carried out every 15-18 months (during a rotation of production phases) in order to maintain certification.
